Looking at details, as regards, owned accommodation started at 20 per cent and in 1939 levelled off at around 30 per cent until 1953. Following this, it experienced a sharp rise to 40 and continued rise during the next 50 year before a bit decline in 2011.
By contrast, household rented accommodation rate started at approximately 80 per cent and then fell slightly to near 70 in 1939. Having remained at 70 next 20-year figure then continued to decrease but more steeply to 40 per cent in 1981. Despite falling sharply to just above 28 the figure witnessed a steady rise to 34 in 1991.
