In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry.
Why is this the case?
What can be done about this problem?
All parents care class="about">about what their class="children">children class="do">do and class="learn">learn at class="school">school. Which class="is">is class="why">why many of class="them">them class="have">have questioned if their sons class="should">should class="spend">spend so much valuable class="time">time playing games on physical education clases instead of having extra class="time">time for more "useful" subjects. In the following paragraphs, I class="will">will present the reasons class="that">that lead me to class="think">think class="that">that all high-class="school">school students class="should">should be required to class="have">have a minimum number of hours dedicated to learning and practicing sports at class="school">school.
In the first place, physical education improves kids physical and class="mental">mental class="health">health. class="there">there are many studies showing the class="strong">strong relationship class="between">between practicing sports and having a class="better">better blood pressure, improved circulation and even a class="better">better performance on standarized tests. One seminar study class="about">about this topic was done by professor George class="atwood">atwood in 1958. In class="it">it, class="atwood">atwood concludes class="that">that the evidence collected stuying class="children">children's sports habits during their class="school">school years demonstrated class="that">that those who practiced sports weekly had class="better">better academic results in their tests and highers scores in other cognitive assesments.
Secondly, physical education class="is">is not playing around a sports field aimlessly. class="it">it class="is">is the opportunity for teens to class="learn">learn many crucial soft-skills class="like">like leadership, teamwork and collaboration class="that">that are not always practiced inside the classroom. this class="is">is the class="reason">reason class="why">why many universities in the class="us">us class="take">take applicants sports experience into account when choosing their new generation of freshmens. Furthermore, many of class="them">them offer class="them">them scholarships and grants to convince class="them">them to join their institution because they class="know">know this skills are fundamental for the class="student">student success class="after">after graduation.
Finally, class="it">it class="is">is class="true">true class="that">that the class="time">time spent on physical education could be class="spend">spend in subjects class="like">like English, Math or Science. And thefore, class="it">it class="is">is understandable for parents to class="think">think class="that">that more hours in class means more learning on these courses. However, this class="is">is not always class="true">true. class="it">it class="is">is easy to see this in our daily lives: class="after">after many hours of doing the same thing over-and-over, most people class="will">will get tired and distracted. Reducing their initial perfomance in the task. class="that">that class="is">is class="why">why we class="take">take breaks during work and kids class="have">have breaks class="between">between classes. because we class="know">know humans are not designed to class="do">do something for many hours non-stop.
In conclusion, class="there">there are class="strong">strong reasons to support mandatory physical education classes in the class="school">school curriculum for all ages. Not only because of the known positive class="health">health effects of physical activity, but also because of the many soft-skills learned during the practice of sports. And although this requires having less hours of class for more "academic" subjects, I believe the investment in our kids physical and class="mental">mental class="health">health greatly justifies class="it">it.
