The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.
The two pictures give information about some changes to the Grande Park which opened in the year 1920.
It is clear that the public park has changed considerably with new facilities. By contrast the entrances on the Arnold Avenue and the Eldon Street remain the same.
In 1920, located in the middle of two entrances, the fountain was in the center of the park, while it has been replaced with a square rose garden with seats surrounding it. Also, the stage for musicians has gone and in its place is an amphitheatre for concerts. The rose garden in the south west corner has been removed, whereas there is no change to the north one.
Besides, where the glasshouse stood there is a water feature. And a café has been built to the right of the north entrance to replace the rose garden. In the north east corner is the children’s play area where used to be pond for water plants. What’s more, now there is another entrance in the underground car park from the east of the park.
