The material discusses the concept of prevent the glass building from injuring birds which think that glass is an open air. While the reading looks at the topic from one perspective, the listening challenges certain points outlined in the reading passage.
Firstly, the reading details points in regard to this topic, namely replacing the clear glass with one-way glass. In addition to that, paint the glass with colorful stripes. One final point, using the magnetic field that steer the birds away from the glass building.
Conversely, the listening challenges the points, one specific contradiction is using the one-way glass can reflect the sunlight, the glass will be as mirror. Given that the glasses could image the sky or tree, the birds will try to fly through it. Next, the glass which colored with stripes has a clear glass in between these stripes, the birds will consider them as open holes and try to fly through them. Otherwise, these holes should be too small, but the rooms inside the building will be so dark. Consequently, this approach is not practical either. Finally, using the magnetic field will not be effective, because birds use their magnetic sense when they travel long distance. When they travel short distance such as inside the cities, they use their eyes and bright light.
