You have a spare room in your flat or apartment and you want to rent it to a student. Write a letter to the director of the accommodation office at the local college. In your letter:
• Explain where your apartment is
• Describe the room
• What kind of person would you like to rent it to.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I recently came across your advertisement that suggested a shortage of rooms in the college hostel and would like to inform you that I have a spare room available which I would like to rent. Since, my building is just along the sameroad, I believe the location is suitable for commute.
Let me provide a little information about the room. Firstly, it is a master bedroom so is has an attached bathroom thus ensuring complete privacy. Secondly, the room has been recently painted and comprises of a large wardrobe, queen-size bed and a study table with many drawers and cabinets. Thirdly, the room is extremely spacious and well ventilated, that sometimes you don't even need the fan.
Finally, I am a working professional and would preferably want a female roommate. Guests are welcomed, provided they do not create a ruckus. Furthermore, she should be willing to split the expenses equally namely, utilities and rent as they occupy the major chuck.
I look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully,
Mary Smith
