Wealthy nations should assist poorer countries with humanitarian relief during natural disasters
Do you agree or disagree
It is often argued whether poor nations need to be assisted with humanitarian aid during natural calamities by rich countries. This essay agrees with the statement because weaker nations have lack of resources and poor economy to recuperate immediately from such natural disasters.
Natural calamity often causes destruction of property, loss of human lives and suffering therefore a developed world must provide immediate medical assistance and logistical support to the affected country which lacks such critical assets. This will not only avoid further loss of life but also mean immediate restoration of the situation. Recent research concluded found that economically weaker countries like Papua New Genie and Indonesia which could not receive any assistance from rich nations suffered great loss of life and infrastructure as compared to countries who did.
Moreover economically weaker countries often lack monetary funds to start immediate rebuilding measures to their infrastructure like restoration of hospitals, school, and highways thus affecting the daily lives of people. Hence wealthier nations fund many infrastructure restoration projects which can help to bring life back to normal which otherwise would not be possible in shorter span of time. Recent study from United Nations found that restoration of educational institutions and hospitals happened faster in earth quake affected countries like Papua and Timor Leste as most of these programs were funded by the United States of America which otherwise would have taken years.
To conclude, backward countries should receive humanitarian aid during natural disasters because they lack critical assets and are economically weak to immediately control the destruction and start rebuilding measures to bring life back to normal.
