The main subject of the reading passage and the lecture are about the advantages and disadvantages of recording medical reports electronically. The author of the passage asserts the benefits of this approach while the professor has an apposite idea is described in three bellow reasons.
First, the passage states that gathering medical information in electronic structure leads to reducing costs because storing and transferring medical records takes a lot of money. However, the professor apposes this idea because keeping medical information in electronic databases do not prevent doctors to store them in paper format since they need them in emergency cases. Also the signs in the paper documents are needed in some occasions. So there is no money saving in it.
Second, the author asserts that should store the medical information in electronic format, it reduces the probability of errors caused by bad handwriting of doctors. Although, the listening apposes this and argues that doctors use pen and paper to write the result of the examination of patients and this is staffs of the hospital who enter information of handwritings into databases, thus the effects of bad or unreadable notes are still remain.
Finally, the reading passage counts that putting medical data of patients into electronic databases makes it easier to access them and helps for a wide research on diseases and their treatments. But the professor encounters this idea and believes this leads to reduction in patient’s security because many of them are not willing to spread their medical information for any reasons.
