The line graph displays rates of household recycling in the UK, France and Germany between 2005 and 2015.
Overall, the UK and Germany did a remarkable upsurge in the number of household recycling rates throughout a decade. In contrast, although starting with the highest rate, France is now the lowest of the three.
In 2005, France stood first in recycling rates with 50% rates, while the UK and Germany were lower, about nearly 35% and 20% respectively. France’s rate dropped dramatically and reached a low point at 30% in 2013, and then slowly returned to 40% in 2015.
Compared with France, the volume in the UK continuously went up by 25%, reaching 60% in 2015. Following the same pattern as the UK, the percentage of household recycling in Germany jumped over with a triple increase, soaring from 20% to slightly below 60% in 2015. It can be seen that the most significant growth of the household recycling rates is in Germany, which is far ahead of the other two nations.
