As regards local calls from fixed lines, figures rose and fell evenly over the period. Levels increased until 1999, reaching a high of about 90 billion minutes. In the following years, figures declined slowly to just above 70 billion minutes in 2002.
Regarding national and international calls from fixed lines and all mobile calls, figures grew throughout the period. The former, which was nearly 40 billions in 1995, experienced a steady increase, with 60 billion minutes being spoken in 2002. The latter was approximately 2 billions in 1995 and remained under 10 billion until 1998. In the year 1999, it was around 12 billions and went up considerably until 2002, when just under 50 billion minutes were spoken.
To sum up, the bar chart reveals that as the use of mobiles became widespread during the period, people tended to make calls through mobiles.
