The bar graph shows the proportion of men and women who worked as faculty members in seven different departments of a leading university in 2012.
There was a huge gender disparity between faculties of different departments. Disciplines like engineering, business and science were male dominated. Whereas, courses like education and arts are more number of female members in. Remarkably, 82% of engineering teachers were men while only 17% of engineering teachers were women.
It is fascinating that the ratio of male-female in business and science is almost the same with 65% male and 35% female educator. After education and arts, law has a slightly higher percentage of female members with 40%. In medicine, the gap between the teachers of both genders was the least.
Even though, departments like engineering, business, science and law were led by men, departments like arts and education had more number of women members in 2012.
