The climograph below shows average monthly temperatures and
rainfall in the city of Kolkata.
The given graph details the statistical information on how temperature and rainfall measures on an average scale of degree celsius and millimeters in the city of Kolkata over a period of 12 months.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that while the majority of rainfall occurs during the months of July and August, the average temperature ranges between 20-degree Celsius and 30-degree Celsius. Also, over the period as a whole, the rainfall trend witnessed an erratic pattern.
According to the given illustration, the year starts with a 20-degree Celsius, which increases significantly to a peak of approximately 30-degree Celsius in May. After that, a steady dropdown plunges the temperature before leveling off at 27-degree Celsius for consecutive 3 months in a row until September. Thereafter, followed by a reverse trend, the temperature plummets down sharply to regain the initial value at 20-degree Celsius.
Turning to the bell-shaped curve, whilst the rain begins at 10mm, the curve rises substantially to ten-fold in May. Moving on, a dramatic surge climbs the value to nearly 250mm in the following month after which, the same sky-rockets to reach a plateau just below 350mm in July and August. However, during the later months, the opposite trend shifts the value to a low of only 5mm by the year-end.
