The table below shows information about consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002.
The table illustrates expenditure of five different countries (Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Turkey) in different categories in 2002.
Overall, most of the money was spent by Turkey on all the items collectively
whereas Sweden spent the least amount of money. Furthermore, highest spending of all five countries were on Food, Drinks and Tabacco while Leisure and education were the categories having lowest expenditure from all countries.
In terms of Food, Drinks and Tabacco, spending of Turkey were 32.14% followed by Ireland, Spain, Italy and Sweden with 28.91%, 18.80%, 16.36% and 15.77% respectively. On the other hand, in Clothing/Footwear, Italy spent the most, however, Sweden spent least in this category also. Moreover, expenditure of Turkey in Leisure and Education was higher and that of Spain was lower than other countries.
Both Italy and Ireland spent three times more on Clothing and Footwear(9.00% and 6.43% respectively) than Leisure and Education (3.20% and 2.21% respectively). Similarly the difference between spending of Spain on Clothing/Footwear and Leisure/Education is significantly highest.
