The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status.
The chart gives information about both men and women‘s leisure time in a typical weekend related to their employment status during 1989-1999.
As regard the first, among those full time employed, men had approximately fifty hours of leisure time, while women had thirty-seven hours. Part time women employees had practically forty hours. The leisure time of part time employed women had slightly more than full time employed ones. However, there was no figure for part time employed men given in the chart.
We can see from the chart that both unemployed and the retired ones had substantially leisure time. They had leisure time that, not only nearly as two times as full time employees, but also they had the most leisure time of all of the others. The leisure time men and women had was nearly 85 and 78 respectively. Whereas, there was no figure given for men in the chart for housewives section and, women housewives had a bit under sixty hours of leisure time.
The all over picture is that full time employees had the least leisure time while unemployed and retired ones had the most. If genders are compared, women had less leisure time than men had in all employment status.
