The bar chart provides information about percentages of owned and rented houses in England and
Wales from the years 1918 to 2011.
Overall, the percentage of houses in rented accommodation had a downward trend. While, household in owned accommodations had a rapid growth by the end of the period. Although owned households initially had lower rate, it outraced rented houses at the end of the period.
Owned accommodations were around 22% in 1918 being less than rented accommodation by approximately 56%. Then it rose to almost 69% in 2001. After which in reduced to around 65% in 2011. But overall percentage of owned houses increased by the end of the period where it outraced rented houses. Percentage of rented houses were more than owned houses in the beginning of the period. However, it dramatically declined reaching to its lowest point of around 31% in 2001. Then, there was a growth of almost 5% registering to 36% in 2011.
