The diagram illustrates how hydropower is generated using water.
Overall, power is produced by turning a turbine with the help of flowing water from a reservoir. Then, electricity is distributed to residences and industries through a transformer station.
First, when the sunlight falls on the sea, surface water is evaporated. Then evaporated water forms clouds high in the sky. When the clouds become saturated with water droplets, the earth receives evaporated water back as precipitation. Precipitated water is collected into a reservoir, which is formed at a higher level by constructing a dam. After being collected into the reservoir, water is made to flow to a lower level, where the flow rate can be regulated by opening and closing of a valve. A turbine is set at a lower level to be turned by the flowing water, which is again pumped into the reservoir,
Once, electricity is formed by the turbine, it is transported to the transformer station, from which the power is supplied to houses and factories via underground cables.
