The given table shows data and predictions about changes in the percentage of the population aged 65 and above in three countries from 1998 to 2030. Overall, Germany had the highest proportion of old civilians and its figure is predicted to stay dominant in 2030. All three countries have an upward trend in terms of old population.
In 1988, Germany had 20 percent its population to be old people aged 65 and over while Canada had around 14 percent and the UK had 17 percent respectively. In the year 2000, one-fourth of Germany’s citizens were old propulation, which was the highest porpotion among all countries compared to nearly 21% of Canada’s and 15% of the UK’s.
It is predicted that the same trend will maintain until 2030 where the UK is forecasted to have a quarter of its population to be old residents. The percentage of people aged 65 and over in Canada is expected to reach 26% in the same year, about 6% more than that of the UK. Germany will likely to have 30% of this figure.
