Between 1996 and 2002, however, London house value soared up to around 12% in sales, which made houses in this city the most expensive. Similarly, homebuyers in New York had to pay significantly more, with house prices rising to 5% above the 1989 average, but homes in Tokyo remained cheaper than they were in 1989. Meanwhile, the cost of average houses in Madrid was double that of the previous period, whilst prices in Frankfurt remained stable.
