It can be seen that the figure for handheld games increased by about 6 billion dollars, from nearly 12 billion dollars in the first year to 18 billion dollars in the last year, which possessed the highest popularity. Appearing one year afterward, the revenue from online games rose steadily between roughly 2 billion dollars in 2001 and 10 billion dollars in 2006. Similarly, there was a significant growth in the income from mobile phone games although this category was not available until 2002, with its figure witnessed a three-time increase from about 2 billion dollars to 7 billion dollars. By contrast, the amount of money earned from selling console games showed a downward trend, reducing a half from 6 billion to 3 billion dollars over the period time.
