International student enrolment in British universities 2009-2014
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of international students studying in ten British universities in two different years, 2009 and 2014. Overall, it can be seen that after 5 years, every university saw roses in the number of international student enrollment, except Liverpool which remained stable and a decrease in Cardiff university.
To begin, foreign students accounted for 8% of Birmingham university in 2009 before jumping significantly to 12% in 5 years later. A marked increase was also seen in Edingbourogh university, of which only 3% were international students in 2009, that number went up twice higher in 2014. Although the percentage of Brighton university minimally climbed from 12% to 13%, it remained the highest number of foreign student enrollment among ten universities.
On the contrary, there were no changes in the number of Liverpool’s international students, which stayed stable at 8% throughout the period. Interestingly, Cardiff university lost attention from foreigners, declining from 2% to 1% at the end of the period.
