The diagram shows how rainwater is collected for the use of drinking water in an Australian town
The diagram illustrates how Australia’s citizens collect rainwater to process in order to use as drinking water.
Generally, there are four steps in the process, beginning with filtering rainwater and ending with treating it with chemicals.
Initially, rainwater that falls on the rooftop will be collected by a gutter. Subsequently, the rainwater then runs down the pipe at the side of the house into the drain at the bottom. Once all the rainwater is collected in this way, it goes along the drain into the water filter. During this stage, rainwater is purified to remove any contaminants.
After this, the rainwater goes through the filter to the water storage. This is a large, rectangle tank to hold purified water before it continues to travel to the treatment tank. At this stage of the process, the water is treated with chemicals in order to make it fit for consumption. When the water is ready for drinking, it travels along the pipe that leads into the houses in the town where people can use the water for daily consumption.
