The line graph depicts the growth in population of two asian countries, India and China, from 2000 to estimations for as far as 30 years in the future.
At a glance, Indian population can be seen growing throughout, whereas China’s trend shows a downward trend nearing the end years of the projection. At the point where this slope begins China and India’s population is projected to be the same.
Looking at the data from 2000 till present both China and India show a steady growth in the number of citizens in the country. Where India has a total count of 1 billion in 2000, China is at roughly 1.25 billion. Both numbers increase steadily, India’s at a faster rate, such that the initial gap can be seen closing to the point where the counts are expected to meet in 2030 just about 1.4 billion.
At which point, India’s population is projected to keep on growing and become higher than China’s. The latter, conversely, is seen dropping at slow rate, dropping to just below 1.4 billion in 2050.
