The graph and table below show the average monthly temperatures and the average number of hours of sunshine per year in three major cities.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The given line chart depicts the average temperatures in each month in London, New York, and Sydney, while the table shows the statistics for average sunshine hours annually in these cities.
From the overall perspective, it is apparent that the total hours of sunshine each year in New York and Sydney are much higher than that of London. When London and New York show increases in temperature in the middle of the year, Sydney observes the opposite pattern.
Looking at the first chart, we can see that the temperature of London increases gradually in the first six months and reaches its peak in July at about 23 degrees. After that, this figure starts to plummet at the end of the year and troughs at the same level as the beginning (roughly 10 degrees). New York sees the same pattern of temperature but this city shows a more erratic fluctuation, ranging from 5 degrees at the beginning and the end to 30 degrees in the middle of the year).
Sydney observes a significant difference because this city starts and ends the year at about 25 degrees. The temperature declines steadily and reaches a trough in July at about 15 degrees making the city have the lowest discrepancy in temperature in a year.
With regards to hours of sunshine, it is obvious that New York and Sydney surpass London by more than half, with 2535, 2473, and 1180 hours respectively.
