The line graph illustrates changes in the number of participants in the Olympics between 1924 and 2012, while the bar graph provides information about the number of male and female participants.
Generally, the number of Olympic players grew noticeably over the period. Until 1984, it rose slowly almost twofold from 3000 to 7000. Afterwards, it rocketed to over 10000 people as its final mark.
Regarding the bar graph, it is noticeable that the majority of athletes were males until 2012. Between 1924 and 1984, the number of both genders grew gradually from 3000 to approximately 5000 for men and from slightly below 1000 to 1500 for women. After that, in 2012, the number of females underwent a sharp climb increasing by 3300 and ending the period up with under 5000. In addition, the males reached the final mark of 6000 people.
Overall, it is apparent that the number of competitors in the Olympics experienced a significant boost since the beginning of the period, especially the number of female participants.
