The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
The line graphs elucidate the information of energy consumption in US from 1980 to 2030. The units are measured in quadrillion.
It is clearly observed from the graph that, the US people have used petrol and oil as the main source of energy and it is predicted to be the same in 2030. Overall, the preference of energy fuels used by US citizens is increasing except for the hydropower.
There was a slight fluctuation in the use of petrol and oil from 30 to 35 in the first 15 years. In 1995, there was a boost of US public to seek for petrol and oil (of around 40). The next alternative energy sources are coal and natural gas. Similarly, until 2015, the US citizens have been generated the similar amount of usages (around above 20 quadrillion). In 2015, around 25 quadrillion of units are accounted for the both of coal and natural gas. Coal is expected to rise slightly to 30, while the natural gases are likely unchanged until 2030.
The rest of energy sources (nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower) showed the least energy consumption in the US (started at below 5 and expected to be 10 in 2030), except for the hydropower - which shows no changes.
