Topic: The graph shows children by age group as a percentage of the young population in the United Kingdom between 1990 and 2001.
The line graph delineates the age segmentation of children as a proportion of the juvenile demographic in the UK from 1990 to 2001.
At the onset, it can be observed that there were oscillations in the proportion of age-specific groups of children over the period shown. While children aged 10-14 displayed an upward trend, toddlers and infants aged 0-4 experienced a slump in percentage. The other two groups showed dramatic changes within the 11-year span.
In 1990, the proportion of preschoolers aged 0-4 stood just under 26%. It increased slightly in 1992 and remained stable for the next three years before going through a downward trend from 26% to just over 23% in 2001. In the category of English elementary-school-aged children, the figure started just below 25%, subsequently increased steadily to its maximum peak of just above 26% in 1997 before experiencing a gradual decline to slightly above 25% until the end of the period.
Regarding the percentage of the preteen-aged group, the figure initiated at above 23% and surged significantly by 3 percent in 2001. Meanwhile, the last adolescent demographic illustrated the opposite trend with a high percentage of just over 26% at the beginning. It then began plummeting to an all-time low of just above 23% in 1994 before showing a steady increase to exactly 25% over the next six years.
