The charts below show information about the electricity generation in two countries in 2009.
The first pie charts illustrate how electricity is manufactured in two European countries, Germany and France, while the second charts detail renewable energy sources there. The data from all diagrams are assessed from 2009.
In general, Germany produced 560 billion kWh of electricity units and France did 510 billion kWh. Renewable energies were slightly more popular in Germany and interestingly, geothermal energy was used by none.
In Germany, conventional thermal was the primary source of electricity (59.6%) while nuclear and renewables constituted 23% and 17.4% of the whole production. If we look at France, the nation relied three-quarters of its electricity on nuclear energy. Other methods such as conventional thermal and renewables contributed only around 10%.
On the other hand, over one-third of the renewable energy in Germany came from biomass and wind. They are followed by hydroelectric (17.1%) and solar (6.1%) technologies. However, French people depended on hydroelectric for the overwhelming majority (80.5%) of renewable energy. Biomass was not quite as reliable as wind with 8.1% and 10.5% in turn. Solar possessed merely 1%, about 6 times as much was used by Germans.
