The chart gives information about the distribution of visitors to four distinct types of tourist attraction in Britain in 1999.
It is clear that theme parks and museums and galleries are the most popular types of tourist destination in Britain. Furthermore, with regard to theme parks, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has the largest number of visitors in the same year.
In 1999, 38% of visitors went to Britain’s theme parks. Notably, the proportion of visitors who visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach was the highest out of five locations, at 47%. The figures for Alton Towers and Pleasureland in Southport were 17% and 16% respectively. Two other destinations were Chessington World Adventures and Legoland in Windsor made up just 10% for each in that year.
The number of visitors who interested in museums and galleries stood at 37% of the total travelers. Historic houses and monuments accounted for only 16%, while wildlife parks and zoos saw the lowest number of visitors in 1999 with 9%.
