The given pie charts give information about the online shopping sales for four retail sectors namely travel, film/music, books, and clothes in New Zealand over a period of a decade starting from 2003 to 2013.
Overall, as can be seen from the charts, it is clear that an upward trend was seen in the proportion of online shopping sales in New Zealand for film/music and books while the opposite was true for the figures for travel and clothes. In addition, the rate of online sales for film/music experienced the most noticeable change over the given period.
In 2003, the rate of online shopping sales for travel in New Zealand was the highest, at 36%, while the figure for film/music was significantly lower, at about a fifth. Meanwhile, clothes and books accounted for 24% and 19% of the online shopping sales of the population in New Zealand respectively.
In 2013, the percentage of film/music in online shopping sales in New Zealand rose dramatically by 12% to approximately a third and became the highest retail sector. At the same time, a slight increase of 3% to 22% was seen in the figure for books. By contrast, the proportion of online shopping sales for clothes in New Zealand declined remarkably by 8% to 16%, while there was a noticeable decrease in the figure for travel.
