Across offices, companies and educational institutions, various forms of competitions are stimulated among students and workers. Despite its obvious advantages, the act of competing also possesses certain limits only some group-working or group-studying practices can fully overcome, with which I strongly advocate. The essay below will discuss both these views, while supporting the author’s personal perspective.
To begin with, competition arouses certain positive aspects within the learners and employees, including a comprehensive sense of self-confidence and sufficient boost of individual skills. Accordingly, a vast range of academic or office tasks are distributed to each of the school or the company’s figureheads, which suggests the issues be best executed with skill or intellectual level from a particularly specific person. Throughout individual work execution, the task taker can realise hence cultivate their personal potentials and their ability to handle problems by themselves; however, the practice might also draw out peer pressure doubled with isolation from the community. As concentrating on their own task results and work or academic levels, the learner or labor is prone to experience of jealousy, once their achievements turn out to be under their expectation or lower compared to those from others within the same environment. Therefore, any methods obtaining competitive aspects should not be popularised at the curricula and organisations.
On the other hand, cooperation can be prove to be the alternatives for the former status, notwithstanding several hardships to achieve its positive turnouts. Particularly, it requires an individual to make significant attempts to navigate and comprehend a variety of their peers’ feelings and perceptions. Although the process might result in severe conflicts due to the nature of different ideas, lifestyles from different people, it is worth the two remarkable benefits including an opportunity to obtain a wide range of skills and knowledge from different individuals, and cultivation of intense bonds with their cooperators. This is because, through various stages of negotiating and working with their groupmates, not only can the person learn newfound skills and information from the peers, but also they can understand others’ feelings and considerations, which is furthermore the basis for an attachable relationship. Provided the mentioned factors, it clearly appears that cooperation can motivate a person to achieve a positive career or academic results, similarly to competition, whilst efficiently dealing with emotional limitations the former might obtain.
In conclusion, competition and cooperation possess both their negatives and positives; however, the act of having a partnership with others outweighs the sheer circumstance of battling against the peers. In the future, as human recognitions is highly raised, the engagement in team works will be carried out more regularly.
