according to the reading passages moai is beautiful statue in this island and it attract the more number of tourist throughout the year. and reading suggests that som reason why the moai collapsed but tth same time statements are refutes by the speaker. here i want to explore the both statement one by one.
first of all, moai collapsed because of the construction method but the speaker says that construction is not causes for the destruction of the moai.
secondly, reading passages claims that all forest are destroyed due cut of all the tree to make track to move the moai but lecture explains that they moved the moai by rope with tilting moai side by side. so the moving the moai can not be the reason for the deforestation at all according the speaker.
thirdly, reading passages states that all the trees was destroyed for making the track for the moai and it's evidence by the birds migrating from that place for searching of food. but the lecturer refutes this statement by stating that the reason for deforesting is not because of the track, it's because while European travels to this place the came along with rats which more vulnerable to the trees that this island became deforested.
finally, reading passages suggests that there was 2000 people was there around 400 bc and it was reduced to the 2000 when european entered there but the speaker says that that was miss calculation because the recent carbon date suggests that those who are living in this island about 1200 ad period not before that.
to sum up, reading says that construction of moai, deforestation are causes for the decline of population un this island but this all statement entirely opposit to the speaker point of view.
