The pie charts compare the rate of water used for three different purpose in six regions around the world.
It is clear that water in Europe and North America is used for industry. However, most of the water consumption in four other areas is for agricultural purpose.
The percentage of consumption for agriculture in Central Asia is highest, at 88%, while the figures for Africa and South East Asia are slightly lower, at 84 % and 81% respectively. In addition, 71% of water in South America is consumed for Agriculture, whereas domestic use’s figure in this area stand at 19%. The rate of water used for family in Central Asia and South Asia is the same, at 7%.
Most of the water in Europe and North America is used for Industrial purpose, at 53% and 48% respectively, while these areas have the lower percentage of water usage in comparison with other nations. The proportion of water consumption for industry in Central Asia is lowest, at only 5%, compared to 7% of total water used in Africa.
