The diagram below shows the production of electricity using a system called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC).
The diagram represents four stages involving in the manufacturing of electricity making use of a system called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC). The process begins at the stage when the conversion of seawater takes place in two distinct environments and ends up by producing drinking water.
As can be seen from the diagram, seawater in an area of 100m depth whose temperature ranging between 5 c and 29 c from bottom to surface, respectively is transported into two tubes in which the first tube experiences the solar energy is used to convert warm seawater into water vapour, leading through to the chamber where exacuated evaporation occurs. Within this chamber, salt is exported, mixing with water and eventually wasted out of the system, meanwhile, turbine creating electricity is turned by saltless water vapor manufactured in the same chamber. After cold seawater gets delivered to condensing chamber through the second tube, together with water vapor condensed in the chamber, they create pure water for drinking purposes.
