The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
The mentioned graph illustrates the history and projections about use five different types of energy in the USA from 1980 until 2030.
Overall, as is represented by the graph, the utilization of fossil fuels was in the first position and is expected to maintain its status in future whereas renewable sources were consumed at the lowest ratio and it is estimated that it will remain low in near future.
It is clear from the graph that the conventional sources of energy such as petrol and oil, natural gas and coal were dominant sources of energy with the figure of 35 ,20 , more than 15 quadrillion units in 1980 while it is also forecasted that demand of these energies will remain higher in future and will reach upto summit, 30 and nearly 25 quadrillion units respectively.
Likewise, previously, the consumption nuclear energy was less than 5 quadrillion units which is forecasted to increase gradually in coming days. Moreover, the non- conventional energy such as solar, wind and hydropower accounted for less than 5 quadrillion while solar and wind energy is going to slightly rise whereas hydropower will remain constant after 2015.
