The line graph below give us information about the number of population aged 65 and over in three different countries, such as Japan, Sweden and United State of America (USA). The data includes from 1940 and the prediction in 2040.

In 1940, the highest proportion of the population aged 65 and over was in USA by 9%. The second position was Sweden by 7 % and the last was Japan by 5%. In 2000 Sweden gradually surpassed USA by 17% when USA was in 14%, and Japan was still the smallest number in 5%.

But in the prediction data of 2040, after a decade there will be a total change in the proportion. In 2040, the amount of population aged 65 and over in Japan will climb tremendously and become the highest number by 28%. On the other hand Sweden will be in the second arrangement by slightly going up to 26% and USA will be soar in the last position by 23%.

In sum up, there will be a considerably change as an upward trend in 2040. All three countries will face the high proportion of the population aged 65 and over.
