The provided line graph indicates three various sources of UK air pollutants between 1990 and 2005.
It is clear that the total amount of air pollutants fell dramatically during the research period. Additionally, the air pollutants from industry was always highest from 1990 to 2005.
In 1990, the total amount of air pollutants stood at 7 million tonnes. This figure decreased significantly to 4 million tonnes in 1999, and continued to go down just over 3 million tonnes by 2005.
The industry released approximately 5.5 million tonnes of air pollutants in the UK in 1990. There was a continuous decline in this figure throughout the period to 2 million tonnes in 2005. By contrast, the amount of air pollutants generated from transport and households were much lower. Specifically, while air pollutants from transport witnessed a constant fluctuation around 1 million tonnes from 1990 to 2005, the figure for households experienced a slight decrease from nearly 1 million tonnes in 1990 to about 0.1 million tonnes at the end of period.
