The bar chart below shows the average rainfall for Australia by month for last year. The line shows the average rainfall for Australia by month for the last 40 years.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given diagram gives information about the average amount of rainfall monthly in Australia the previous year while the line graph illustrates that of Australia for the last 4 decades.
Overall, the two graphs followed quite the same pattern, however, the column chart seemed to have a downward tendency while there is an opposite trend in line graph.
As can be seen from the data, up to about 70mm of rain fell in January and this source also was the top charted in last year, followed by that of march and February with around 65 mm and 60 mm, respectively. Nevertheless, from April to October, the average rainfall witnessed several oscillations ranging between a highest of 39mm in May and a lowest of 5mm in both August and October. Despite rising again in November to 40mm, the amount of rainfall was still lower than that of January.
Turning to the average total of rainfall through last 40 years, notwithstanding constituting the highest data in January with 80mm in total, the number progressively declined from that time on to September and reached the lowest of 10mm approximately before growing to 50mm through October to December
