The bar chart provides information about how families in a country spent weekly income in both 1968 and in 2018.
The given bar chart illustrates how households in a specific country allocated income on different things between 1968 and 2018. Overall, food, fuel and power, clothing and footware and personal goods declined, a reverse pattern was true with the remaining categories. Additionally, it is also noticeable that people spent more money on leisure and housing in 2018 instead of food, like in 1968.
In 2018, 35% of the households’ income was spent on purchasing food weekly, the proportion of average wage spending every week on housing and clothing and footware was recorded at the same data, at 10% and the remaining categories witnessed a similar pattern with the figure being roughly 7%, except fuel and power with only 6% of income expenditure on this category.
After 40 years, the demand of people in this region had changed significantly. The weekly expense on food declined to about 17% and people in this country tended to allocate more budget deriving from their income on spare time, at 23% (a 13% increase). Additionally, housing and transport were also paid more attention by more people with more income expenditure with the figure being recorded at approximately 18% and 9% respectively. The weekly spending money on other categories also decreased considerably, at 5% or just below 5%, meanwhile housing stayed unchanged with the similar record in 1968 ( at 8%).
