The bar graph below shows the numbers of male and female research students studying six computer science subjects at a US university in 2011.Summarise the information by selecting and report in the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart illustrates how many female and male research students studied various subjects (linguistics, psychology, natural sciences, engineering, programming, and mathematics) in the year 2005.
Overall, psychology and natural sciences were the most popular subjects for both men and women. The number of males dominated in four areas (psychology, engineering, programming, and mathematics), whereas linguistics was more trending among female researchers.
Regarding the chart, 200 male students preferred to learn psychology, natural sciences, and mathematics. In contrast, the number of females studying mathematics was about one-fifth that of male and this figure for psychology was 175. engineering and programming were also subjects that male students outnumbered females by approximately 60 and 70, respectively.
In 2005, linguistics was the only field that had an opposite trend. about 110 women chose to study it compared with 80 men. natural sciences were equally popular for both genders, since the number of researchers was the same.
