The bar chart illustrates the average weekly expenditure of families for food, housing, fuel and power, clothing and footwear, household goods, personal goods, transport and leisure for the year of 1968 and 2018. Overall, Food, Fuel and Power, Clothing and Footwear, Personal goods experience a decline whereas remaining sectors follow a increasing trend.
In 1968, among all, most of the money was invested to buy food which equals almost 35% of total expense. Whereas, the expense of Fuel and Power was the lowest indicating 7% of the full income. In the other segments, the amount of expense for Housing, Clothing and footwear, Household goods, personal goods, Transport and Leisure was almost same indicating a value approximately in between 9 to 10% in every case.
Meanwhile in 2018, The expense for food decreased dramatically to half the value of 1968 leveling to almost 17% of the actual cost. Moreover, cost of Fuel and power, clothing and footwear, personal goods also declined to lower value. On the other hand, the expense related to Housing, Leisure and Transport increase significantly. Specifically, The cost involve in leisure almost tripled to a value of about 23% as compared with the cost of same in 1968.
In conclusion, the average weekly spending in 1968 and 2018 by family in certain country for some sectors followed increasing pattern while decreasing pattern was observed in other areas. Only exception was household goods which remained same in both those time periods.
