The chart below gives information about how families in one country spent their weekly income in 1968 and in 2018.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the changes that have taken place in the weekly expenditure of families in 1968 and 2018.
Overall, while spending on food, fuel and power, clothing and footware, and personal goods decreased, upward trends were occurring in the spending on housing, transport, and leisure, with the exception of household goods. Additionally, the largest proportion of spending per week was spent on food in 1968, and on leisure in 2018.
In 1968, the total expenditure on food was 35% and quickly declined by nearly half 50 years later. A similar trend was observed in the spending on clothing and footwear and personal goods, at 10% and 7% in 1968. Likewise, the figure for fuel and power experienced a slight drop from 6% in 1968 to 4% in 2018.
On the other hand, one-tenth of the total expenditure was on housing in 1968, almost doubling in 2018. Furthermore, transport and leisure had nearly the same proportion in 1968, at 8%, and increased to 14% and 22% respectively, in 2018. Meanwhile, the spending on household goods remained unchanged over the 50-year period, at 8%.
