Essay topics:

The chart below shows the number of men and women in further education on Britain in three periods and whether they were studying fulltime or part-time.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart describes the quantity of male and female students of higher education - both part-time and fulltime - in Britain in three different periods of time: 1970 to 1971, 1980 to 1981, and 1990 to 1991.

At first glance, there was a significant difference between the number of fulltime students compared to that of part-time students in both genders, with the former always outnumbering the latter by 8 to 10 times.

In addition, it can be interpretted from the chart that the number of fulltime learners of both genders experienced an increase throughout the record. However, the number of men pursuing part-time education fluctuated with a noticeable drop from 1980 to 1981, where as their female counterpart witnessed a steady growth in number the entire time. On the other hand, the figures of fulltime students among men finally caught up with that among women at approximately 220 thousand students during the time 1990 - 1991.

To sum up, students in further education, regardless of their sexes, had a tendency to enroll in part-time programs rather than fulltime ones. Moreover, more women than men are likely to be more engaged in pursuing higher education.
