Essay topics:

The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.

Given is the table depicting how many minutes in total of British phone calls in three distinct areas, namely their local, national and international and mobiles over a period of 8 years, commencing from 1995.

It is conspicuous that the number t of minutes reported in the nation and overseas as well as mobile calls saw an upward trend, while calling in local fluctuated over the time frame, however, despite several swings, it was by far the most popular type of calling.

In 1995, starting at close to 72 million minutes, the data of local-fixed line leaped steadily and reached the highest peak at exactly 90 billion in 1999 before experiencing a gradual plunge during the next four years. At the end of the period, the figure registered as the same as the first year.

When it comes to the number of minutes in the two remaining types, national and international landline calls were lower twofold than that local calls in 1995. Meanwhile, only 3 billion were recorded in mobile calls. Nevertheless, the figures for national/international and mobile calls rose drastically over time with around 60 billion and 45 billion respectively.
