The charts below give information about USA marriage and divorce rates between 1970 and 2000, and the marital status of adult Americans in two of the years.

The two bar charts illustrates the number of marriage and divorce rates in the USA from 1970 to 2000 as well as different marital status of adults Americans in two of the years.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of marriages rate was far higher than divorces rate, over the 40 years period, and the highest proportion of adults American did married in both years.
As is observed from the first graphs, the number of marriage rate stood at 2.5 million in 1970, and then it gradually decline to reached at 2 million in 2000. In contrast, the divorce rate in the USA was 1 million in 1970, and it rose to around 1.4 million in next decades. After 1980, the divorce rate was steadily fall to 1 million in 2000, which was the same as first decades.
The second graph describe, married was most popular than the other marital status in American adults. In 1970, 70 percent of American adults did married, and it slightly decline in 2000 was about 60 percent. The widowed and divorced rate was much lower under 10 percent in both years. Americans adult who did not married was above 10 percent in 1970, and it increased to 20 percent in 2000.
