Overall, it can be seen that the food industry was a sector that used water with the highest proportion in both 1997 and 2007, while the building industry made up the lowest rate. Besides, the percentage of total water usage nearly doubled for the service industry.
In 1997, the proportion of water use in the food industry accounted for 48%. This figure was witnessed a slight decrease in 2007, at 41%. Similarly, the rates for the building industry and the manufacturing were 5% and 15% respectively. The numbers were straitened in 2007, with 2% for the building industry and 11% for the manufacturing.
By contrast, a downtrend was noted in the percentage of water used in the other sectors. The figure for household use was 19% in 1997 before rising slightly to 21% in 2007. The water used by the service industry increased significantly to 25% in 2007, compared to 13% in 1997.
