The graph below shows different sources of air pollutants in the UK from 1990 to 2005. Summarise information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line chart compares 3 sources that polluted the air in the UK between 1990 and 2005.
Overall, it can be seen that the total amount of air pollutants in the UK decreased significantly over the years. The emissions from the industry made up the highest rate in all years.
In 1990, the total amount of air pollutants reached a peak at 7 million tonnes. This figure witnessed a rapid decline to 4 million tonnes in 1999 before it continued to drop with a slower speech, at over 3 million tonnes in 2005.
It is clear that the air pollution was caused mostly by industrial activities. In 1990, the number of emissions from this sector was 5.5 million tonnes, and then decreased sharply to 3 million tonnes in 1996, followed by a slight fall to 2 million tonnes in 2005. For the transport and households, the figure of all was nearly 1 million tonnes in the first year of the period. This data for the transport stayed constant over the years, at 1 million tonnes in 2005. However, it reported a downtrend for households with the levels of pollutants appropriately zero at the same time.
