The charts compare 5 different sources of energy in the USA in 1980 and 1990.

The charts compare 5 different sources of energy namely oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear and hydroelectricity power in the terms of the percentage of energy generated in the USA in 1980 and 1990.
As can be seen from the charts that oil consistently dominated the energy production rankings, while the percentage of energy yielded from hydroelectric lagged far behind.
A closer look at the data reveals that 42% of total energy in the US came from oil, which was much higher than 26% for (the percentage of energy generated from) natural gas and 22 % for (that from) coal. The figure for hydroelectricity and nuclear marked similar quantities, at 5% for each.
It’s noticeable that the percentage of energy from oil decreased significantly, falling to 33% in 1990. Likewise, the figure for natural gas went down slightly to 25%. The proportion of energy generated from coal witnessed a reserve trend with a moderate increase to 27%. In a similar way, the figure for nuclear went up, rising to 10%. The proportion of hydroelectric remained stable, at 5% throughout the surveyed period.
