The pie charts below give information about how people spent their holiday with respect to four different types of lodgings and three distinct years.
Generally speaking, sharing space with family and friends dominated over three other form of accommodations in all given years. In addition, camping witnessed a sudden fall while the figure for rented apartments increased noticeably during the period.
Staying with acquaintances accounted for around 50 percent and maintained the pulling power over other housing method on vacations during the whole 30 years though it descended slightly from 52% at the beginning to 44% at the end. The figure for Hotels increased sedately from 15% to 22% in 1998, and remained stable throughout the next years.
Despite being the runner-up at 26% in 1988, Camping fell significantly to 13% in 1998 and ended up at 12% in 2008. By contrast, rented apartment proved to be a potential style of residing over time. With an unpromising start at 7% in 1988, the number went up to 12% in 1998 and reached its peek in 2008, at 22%.
