The diagram describes in detail, the process of obtaining sugar from sugar cane.
Overall, the process consists of seven stages, beginning with the growing of sugar canes and ending with the drying and cooling of sugar.
The first step of the process is to grow sugar canes, which takes anywhere between 12 to 18 months, after which they are harvested. They can be harvested either by hand where farmers cut them using sickles or with the help of a commercial harvesting machine. Now, the harvested sugar cane is passed through a machine and is crushed in order to obtain the juice of the sugar cane.
The juice is now passed through a funnel with a limestone filter to remove unwanted particles from the juice and purify it. After this, the filtered juice is put in a container called the evaporator which is heated to make the juice into syrup. Then, the syrup is rotated in a centrifuge where the separation of sugar crystals from the syrup takes place. The final step of the process is now performed, which is the drying and cooling of the sugar obtained.
