The diagrams below show the water supply system in Australia at present and in future. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features/

The given diagrams delineates the current and future water supply system in Australia. A glance at the two diagrams reveals that in future, water supply system will eliminate the disposal of waste water and storm water into the river so that marine pollution can be reduced.

In present system, stored pure water from dam or storage tank is supplied for use to households, shops, factories and other parts of the city. While waste water which is collected from various parts in the city is passed to water treatment plant in order to treat the water and removing waste by throwing it in the river, storm water is directly passed on to water body.

However, a new approach to assure the environment cleanliness cab be observed in future water supply which would ensure that the disposal of waste materials after water treatment will not be done in the river. Instead, both storm and waste water will be treated and pure water will be collected from the treatment plant. Finally, this water will be again sent to the city for reuse.
