The first chart below gives information about the money spent by British parents on their children's sports between 2008 and 2014. The second chart shows the number of children who participated in three sports in Britain over the same time period.
The first line graph illustrates the spending on kids' sports per month (in pounds) and the second line graph compares how many British children who joined three sports (football, athletics, and swimming) over 6 years from 2008.
Overall, the average money spent on sports and the children numbers in 3 kinds of physical activities show upward trends over the period shown. It is noticeable that football was chosen the most from 2008 to 2014.
In the year 2008, 20 pounds was spent on the activities of kids monthly. During the same year, 8 million participants joined football, while the figures for swimming and athletics were significantly lower, 2 million and only hundreds, respectively. Two years later, the number of children who participated in athletics remained unchanged before reaching its peak at 5 million in 2012.
By 2014, expenditure on sports had climbed by about 10 pounds per month. As a result, 3 sports surveyed experienced a rise in their participant numbers. The respective figures for football and swimming had increased gradually to nearly 10 million and around 4 million. Remarkably, approximately 5 million kids signed up for athletics at the end of the period.
